We should be a generation of givers, not of accumulators, although my generation seems to me to be one that too rarely still has a tradition of generosity. Too few of us still invest in eternity. Most of the time we do not realize that God has prospered us not so that we can live in luxury, but so that we can help the church, the poor, and those who are not saved.
I remember how someone once told me that we people today, and especially as Christians, have too many little things that we put emphasis on—things that hinder us, that we pile up in pantries and attics. In one word: we waste. We waste finances, we waste time, we waste what God has blessed and entrusted us with. All these things should be directed with purpose for Christ, who opens the door to heaven for us.
Now, I challenge you to be part of the project “I Saw You 2021.” I want us to think about the following question: What will we do with everything we have gathered if, when Christ returns, He finds our wealth untouched, without us having invested anything for Heaven? If we read the text in 1 Corinthians 3:11–15, we come to the conclusion that the money that could have been used to feed the hungry and to fulfill the Great Commission will go up in flames.
Maybe this article is too harsh, or too direct. Or too sudden. But I desire that the whisper of the Spirit would soften our ego and bring it into obedience, so that we may do the work to which each of us is called for our neighbors in need.
No one, absolutely no one will be able to say, “Lord, but I was not a singer, I was not an evangelist, I did not have other gifts, but I certainly was not poor financially.”
We are an organization officially registered in Austria that lives only from donations. For the upcoming projects, we want to be able to send money where it is needed, and we want you to be a member of the team as well. We want to do what we do with passion and joy, everything we do together with you. For any details, we are at your disposal.
Your donations will be sent officially, directly from the Helping Hands association’s account to the projects in India, Nepal, and beyond, and this is a good thing, proving to the authorities and to those who may be a bit suspicious the loyalty and faithfulness of the Helping Hands team toward this mission and aid work.
